Air sensing types have an air sensing model for frost protection purposes. All thermostats are adjustable over a temperature range and are ‘ON – OFF’ units with an electrical switch operated by expansion of the liquid in the sensing bulb or capillary. The units are suitable for use in corrosive and dust laden atmospheres. SIRA approved for Zone I and Zone II hazardous areas

Commercial and Domestic Trace Heating, Skin Effect Systems

Skin Effect Systems

Skin Effect Systems Skin Effect Heat Systems Typical Characteristics of product range Available for hazardous area applications – Zone 1 & 2 Maximum Application Temperature to 200°C Maximum Circuit length – 25000m Skin effect heating system can provide a cost-effective alternative to Series resistance heat tracing on long pipelines. A pipeline up to 25 kilometres plus long can be traced from a single power point. Skin effect heating system generates heat in the “Heat Tube” by the return electrical current flowing through the impedance of the inner skin of the heat tube. Commercial and Domestic Trace Heating, Series Wire

Series Wire

Series Wire Typical Characteristics of product range Available for hazardous area applications – Zone 1 & 2 Maximum Application Temperature to 200C Maximum Circuit length – 15000m These cables are provided as flexible, cut – to – length. The whole design of the cable relies on insulated conductors which are wired in series (for single phase supplies) or connected in a star connection at the remote end (for three phase supplies). The cables can be in a variation of a single conductor per cable, two conductors, or three conductors per cable. Commercial and Domestic Trace Heating, Constant Wattage cable

Constant Wattage cable

Constant Wattage cable Constant Wattage Heating Cables Typical Characteristics of product range Available for hazardous area applications – Zone 1 & 2 Maximum Application Temperature to 425C Maximum Circuit length – 200m Cut to Length Cable cannot be crossed on itself without potential over temperature damage. These types of cables differ in the construction to self-regulating cables and in operation.  In this construction the two bus-wires are extruded with an insulating layer over each conductor. At pre-determined distances, the insulation is removed from alternate conductors, exposing the base conductor. A heating wire (or element) is wrapped around the two conductors, and where the wire meets these two areas, a heating ‘zone’ is created. A layer of insulation is then extruded over the cable. Similar to the self-regulating cable, a further optional layer of metallic braid and a final thermoplastic or fluoropolymer insulation can be extruded over the cable to provide a finished product. The heating element used has a very low alpha coefficient. This means that the resistance of the element is very uniform regardless of the temperature. The advantages of constant output cables are that start-up currents are negligible. A disadvantage is that the cable must not be crossed upon itself as hot spots may occur. Our Range Includes: OBCW – Freeze Protection and Temperature Maintenance Output Wattage range (w/m) 10,20,30,40 Maximum maintain temperature (energized) 10 w/m 150°C Maximum maintain temperature (energized) 20 w/m 120°C Maximum maintain temperature (energized) 30 w/m 90°C Maximum maintain temperature (energized) 40 w/m 65°C Maximum exposure temperature (de energized) 205°C Minimum installation temperature -40°C Working voltage range 110V- 120V / 220-240V   HCW – Freeze Protection and Temperature Maintenance Output Wattage range (w/m) 10,20,30,40 Maximum maintain temperature (energized) 10 w/m 150°C Maximum maintain temperature (energized) 20 w/m 120°C Maximum maintain temperature (energized) 30 w/m 90°C Maximum maintain temperature (energized) 40 w/m 65°C Maximum exposure temperature (de energized) 205°C Minimum installation temperature -40°C Working voltage range 110V- 120V / 220-240V

Commercial and Domestic Trace Heating, Self-Regulating cable

Self-Regulating cable

Self-Regulating cable Self-Regulating Heating Cables Typical Characteristics of product range Available for hazardous area applications – Zone 1 & 2 Maximum Application Temperature to 250C Maximum Circuit length – 200m Cut to Length Cable can be crossed on itself without potential over-temperature damage. These types of cables are very popular due to their inherent safety and cut to length ability. The general construction is that there are two conductors (bus-wires) providing a live and neutral supply along the length of the cable. A semi conductive heating matrix is extruded between these conductors forming the heating element. Suitable electrical insulation is further extruded over the matrix providing the dielectric barrier. The cable is then completed with options of a metallic braid and a further outer jacket for both mechanical and corrosion protection. The function of the inner conductive core is to generate heat. The output will vary dependant on its temperature and the local environment. This is the self-regulating effect. The advantage of the cable is that it cannot overheat and can be cut to the desired length. A potential disadvantage is the start-up currents which must be assessed and accounted for with any associated switch gear, thermostats or protection.
